Connect ScrapingBee to BizzyBees

BizzyBees uses ScrapingBee to scan and extract readable content from websites. Follow the steps below to get your ScrapingBee API key and paste it into BizzyBees.

API key security

Treat your ScrapingBee API key like a password. Don’t share it publicly or paste it into screenshots. If you rotate your key later, remember to update BizzyBees too.

Legal / compliance

Only scan/scrape websites where you have the legal right to do so and where it’s permitted by the site’s terms. BizzyBees is a tool — you stay responsible for how you use it.

1

Create your ScrapingBee account (using our link)

Start by creating a ScrapingBee account (free trial currently available). Once you’re signed up, you’ll access the ScrapingBee dashboard where your API key lives.

Tip: ScrapingBee’s current trial/intro allowance is shown on their sign-up and pricing pages.

2

Confirm your email address

ScrapingBee requires email confirmation for new accounts. Confirm your email so you can access your dashboard and API key.

If you don’t see the confirmation email, check spam/junk folders and any “Promotions” tabs.

3

Copy your ScrapingBee API key (exact menu path)

In the ScrapingBee dashboard, use this exact navigation:

Dashboard → Account Settings → API key

  1. Open the ScrapingBee dashboard.
  2. In the left sidebar (near the bottom), click Account Settings.
  3. At the top of the Account Settings page, click the API key tab.
  4. Copy the value shown next to Your API key.

Do not share your API key

If you ever need to rotate it, click Change my API key in that same screen — then replace the key inside BizzyBees.

4

Set up billing / upgrade plan (if you need more credits)

If you hit usage limits or need higher volume/concurrency, upgrade your ScrapingBee plan inside the dashboard.

Exact dashboard menus you’ll see:

  • Upgrade Plan (left sidebar) → choose a plan and click Upgrade
  • Billing (left sidebar) → Payment Method tab to add/update your card

If BizzyBees scans stop unexpectedly, low/empty ScrapingBee credits is one of the first things to check.

5

Paste the ScrapingBee key into BizzyBees

Go back to your WordPress admin dashboard and paste the key into BizzyBees.

Typical path in WordPress:

  • WP Admin → BizzyBees → Settings (or your task settings screen)
  • Find ScrapingBee API Key
  • Paste → Save

Premium users: if BizzyBees supports per-task keys, you can use different ScrapingBee keys for different tasks/clients.

6

Run a quick test scan

Create a tiny test task (1 URL, short prompt, conservative settings) and run it once. If it works, scale up gradually.

If anything fails, check BizzyBees logs first — they’ll tell you whether the issue is scanning, AI generation, retries, or credentials.

Troubleshooting

Common ScrapingBee connection issues (and the quickest fixes).

BizzyBees says my ScrapingBee key is invalid.
  • Re-copy the key from Account Settings → API key and paste it again (avoid extra spaces).
  • If you clicked Change my API key in ScrapingBee, you must update the new key inside BizzyBees.
  • Confirm you pasted the ScrapingBee key into the ScrapingBee field (not the OpenAI field).
Scans suddenly stop, or I’m getting “credits / quota” style errors.

Check your ScrapingBee dashboard usage/plan and confirm you have remaining credits. If needed: Upgrade Plan (sidebar) or go to Billing → Payment Method.

Tip: scaling schedules too aggressively can burn through credits faster than expected — ramp up gradually after you’ve reviewed real usage.

The page content looks incomplete (missing JS-loaded sections).

Some sites load critical content via JavaScript. Make sure advanced scanning is selected and don’t check the ‘remove cookies etc’ option.

You can review ScrapingBee capabilities here: ScrapingBee Documentation

ScrapingBee doesn’t seem to be scanning my websites fully, there is missing content.

Some websites aggressively block bots, vary by region, or show cookie/consent pages. Try fewer URLs first, adjust scanning settings, try different regional settings and review BizzyBees logs and OpenAI logs to see what’s happening.

If you’re using ‘scan beyond base URL’, start with a conservative link limit until you’ve confirmed stability and costs.
